The Governor of Benue State, Governor Gabriel Suswam believes that the ASSU ongoing strike has now become a political thing instead of the supposed fight for the University Lecturers welfare.
Speaking as a host to the leadership of the National Union of Benue Students (NUBES) yesterday, Suswan insisted that the leadership of the Academic staff union of Universities has not been realistic with their demands so far. According to him, They (ASUU) should have ended the strike because the Government has met virtually all they demanded for, everything in their demand list has been touched.
According to him, the Federal Government released a total sum of N130billion to the union, to upgrade infrastructures in the universities and also to take care of the federal universities lecturers allowances pending the verification of those who are entitled to be given the allowances.
